Biography - Janice Huckaby

I am a native-born Texan, destined to be an artist. As a self-taught artist I have studied many of the Old Master’s techniques and continuously study modern artists as trends and techniques evolve.

I was always involved with local arts and crafts starting at a young age. Then continued on with costume design, clay sculpting, woodworking, photography, and fine art painting. Watercolor, acrylics, and oil paintings are my primary mediums for paintings.

In 1989 I moved to the Caribbean and specialized in underwater photography and fine art paintings of the underwater world and landscapes to represent above and below locations for scuba divers and nature lovers. In Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean, I started the Jan Art Gallery in 1996 through 2024, as the sole artist and owner.

Currently I have returned to Texas to continue painting nature in local communities and travel destinations. Painting nature and landscapes while I travel is part of the journey.

Special commissions are still available of Bonaire and any other place or special occasion you would like to have painted.

You can view my current original paintings at the Madeley Fine Art Gallery, in the downtown historic district of Conroe, Texas, where I am a member of the Conroe Art League.
